Historical population takatā

Template:Historical populations outputs its title in English, as you can see at the article you created at Vayres, Gironde. I previously changed the column titles in the module which does the work for the template to use Māori. Would the appropriate title be "Taupori o mua"? You can change this yourself at Module:Historical populations, line 379.-gadfium (talk) 23:35, 16 Hepetema 2022 (UTC)Reply

Looks like "Taupori ō-mua" would be better, since that was used at Āhia#Taupori.-gadfium (talk) 23:43, 16 Hepetema 2022 (UTC)Reply

Oh thank you! I didn’t know how to say historical populations in Māori and of course there’s no entry for it in te aka 😂. I’ll correct it when my computer’s fixed! Unless you wanna correct it now Thomas Norren (talk) 08:25, 17 Hepetema 2022 (UTC)Reply

Translation request takatā

Hi. Could you please translate this to Maori?

Lingua Franca Nova (“Elefen”) is a language designed to be particularly simple, consistent, and easy to learn for international communications. It has a number of positive qualities:

  • 1. It has a limited number of phonemes. It sounds similar to Italian or Spanish.
  • 2. It is phonetically spelled. No child should have to spend years learning irregularities.
  • 3. It has a completely regular grammar, similar to the world’s creoles.
  • 4. It has a limited and completely regular set of productive affixes for routine word derivation.
  • 5. It has well-defined rules for word order, in keeping with many major languages.
  • 6. Its vocabulary is strongly rooted in modern Romance languages. These languages are themselves widespread and influential, plus they have contributed the major part of English vocabulary
  • 7. It is designed to be naturally accepting of Latin and Greek technical neologisms, the de facto “world standard”.
  • 8. It is designed to seem relatively “natural” to those who are familiar with Romance languages, without being any more difficult for others to learn.
  • We hope you like Elefen!

I'm sorry but I only translate Wikipedia pages and only those that are of personal interest to me. Thomas Norren (talk) 19:30, 30 Mei 2023 (UTC)Reply

Austronesian languages takatā

Hi, I'm currently trying to help edit articles on languages and saw you contributing to most of them. I would like to know, how did you get the translation of "Austronesian languages" to be reo-a-Kiwa? I've looked around and only found that Kiwa has a closer meaning to "Pacific", which wouldn't be accurate to mean Austronesian as it encompasses a larger area than just the Pacific Ocean (as stated in the English article "The Austronesian languages are a language family widely spoken throughout Maritime Southeast Asia, Madagascar, the islands of the Pacific Ocean and Taiwan"). This is just a suggestion, but I was thinking we could move the title to Ngā reo Ahiteronīhia, which would be a transliteration+translation of Austronesian languages instead. I based the spelling from "Ahitereiria" (Australia) and "Porinīhia" (Polynesia). I would appreciate your input on this.

Also, I've set up the infobox template for languages (Template:Infobox language) and am in the process of setting up the infobox template for language families soon too, so feel free to use them for language articles.

That's a good idea reo-a-Kiwa could be used to refer to just the Oceanic branch instead then Thomas Norren (talk) 15:50, 5 Hūrae 2023 (UTC)Reply
That's great. I'll make the change now. The Oceanic branch does seem appropriate to use that term, but there needs to be more research done in the future since there is already the word "Oheania" to refer to Oceania/Oceanic in some cases. We could probably include both as accepted terms. Thanks for your input! Ultron90 (talk) 16:21, 5 Hūrae 2023 (UTC)Reply
