Template:Motu Porinīhia

This article is a template, a block of information designed to be included on other article pages.
When included, only the portion comprising the section "Article appearance" is shown. The remainder of the text here is simply for documentation.

This template allows the presentation of the characteristics of an island or atoll of French Polynesia in the form of a vertical table appearing on the right-hand side of an article.

Usage takatā

This template is used in an article, generally at the beginning thereof, by using the following syntax and filling in each known field (after the "=" sign) with the correct value:

{{Motu Porinīhia
| name=
| map=
| country=
| archipelago=
| region=
| area=
| coastline=
| peakname=
| peakheight=
| population=
| date_population=
| density=
}}

Parameters takatā

The parameters used are as follows:

  • name : the name of the island or atoll
  • map : a properly-formed wikilink to an image of a map for the island. it is advisable to force the size of the map in order to ensure that it does not unnecessarily broaden the infobox, for example: map_description. This field can be left blank if no map is available.
  • country : name of the country with sovereignty over the island/atoll/archipelago. In the case of an island divided between more than one country (of which there are, admittedly, few), separate the countries with a forced linebreak, i.e., "<br />" between each country name.
  • archipelago: name of the archipelago and, if more specific, island group where the island/atoll is located
  • region : region of the world where the island is located
  • area : area of the island in sq. mi. The unit "km²" is automatically attached to the end (so just provide the number!)...if a conversion is done to square miles, put the square miles first, separated from the km² value by a linebreak (i.e., "<br />"). The sq. mi. value must come first, otherwise it will end up rendering incorrectly.
  • coastline : length of the coastline, if known, in km. Again, just the number. Again, if miles are used, please also convert to km as well, and put the miles value before the km value, separated by a linebreak
  • peakname : name of the highest elevation on the island.
  • peakheight : elevation of highest point on the island. default unit is meters, again, as above, if using feet, please also convert, and include the elevation in feet first, separated with a linebreak from the elevation in meters.
  • population : population of the island or atoll
  • date_population : date of the census for the island population given.
  • density : population density for the island, default is people per square kilometer, denoted "ppl./km²". If using density per sq. mi., please also convert to density per sq. km, and, as above, give the /sq.mi. density first, separated by a linebreak from the population /km².

Placement takatā

As with all templates, this one should be placed on its own line, apart from the flow of the text.
